What is Ready or Not
-
Ready or Not is a tactical first-person shooter developed and published by VOID Interactive.
-
Originally released for PC (Windows) in December 2023; console versions (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S) launched on July 15, 2025.
-
The setting is in a fictional American city called Los Sueños, which is experiencing a surge in violent crime, corruption, and civil disorder. You play as part of a SWAT-style team trying to restore order.
Gameplay & Mechanics
These are the features that define Ready or Not and what make it different (or challenging):
-
It emphasizes tactical realism over run-and-gun. Bullets do serious damage; cover, planning, and precise movement matter a lot.
-
You manage a squad of officers (SWAT) — choosing gear, weapons, load-outs, planning entry and breach, positioning, etc.
-
There are both lethal weapons and less-lethal tools (stun grenades, fiber scopes etc.), and the game rewards more for taking suspects alive when possible.
-
Missions can involve hostage rescue, active shooters, barricaded suspects, bomb threats, etc. The situations are often morally or tactically complex.
-
There is both single-player (with AI teammates) and multiplayer/co-op modes. On PS5, you can play with other players or with bots.
-
The PS5 version supports features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers via the DualSense controller.
Story & Atmosphere
-
The narrative isn’t linear in the sense of one big story campaign — it’s more mission-based, but themes interlink: criminal networks, corruption, political issues, human trafficking, drug cartels, etc.
-
The game is gritty, intense, with realistic sound design, tension, environmental detail, etc. Part of the atmosphere is that your decisions have weight: squads can lose people, mistakes have serious consequences.
